STEM Tutoring Enrichment Program for Students (STEPS)
The goal of STEPS is to help students successfully pass their STEM courses while also developing the skills needed to increase their conceptual understanding of the course material.
STEPS tutors gain valuable teaching skills by learning how to actively listen to participants, then design meaningful materials and pedagogies to aid student comprehension. Tutors develop strategies for teaching STEM materials and provide supportive and encouraging mentoring to students. Tutors do not complete homework or take tests with students. Rather, they provide the tools to enable students to successfully understand and complete their work. Tutors are STEM teaching role models.
