Data Science Summer in The City: A STEM Summer Institute for Elementary Teachers

The Summer 2024 STEM Institute will provide elementary grade teachers a chance to learn, collaborate, and plan for instruction that integrates place-based learning and data science across the curriculum. We will focus on investigating our local communities through the lenses of culturally responsive, justice-based STEM learning. Teachers will leave the summer institute with curricular resources and strategies to try in their classrooms, and online follow-up during the fall semester will support teacher teams as they bring these ideas to life.

The in person institute will be held June 17, 18, 20, and 21, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on the San Francisco State University Campus. Follow up sessions will be online and scheduled based on the availability and needs of participating teachers.

Participants will receive a stipend of $2000 dollars for completion of the full professional learning experience (in person institute + follow up sessions).
