Evra Baldinger
Evra (Evie) Baldinger came to San Francisco State in 2019. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Secondary Education with an emphasis in Mathematics Education. Her research interests are in the areas of equity and justice in education, teacher learning, and learning through discourse. She teaches graduate and credential courses in mathematics education, and in secondary education with a focus on creating inclusive and equitable classroom systems.
Evie earned her PhD in Mathematics Education from the University of California, Berkeley in 2018. Years ago, she earned her teaching credential in Mathematics–with an additional certification in Dance–from SF State! She taught middle and high school Mathematics (as well as Dance and other fun things) in Bay Area public schools for 12 years. She participated for 8 years as a managing editor and author in the creation of three student-centered, problem-based mathematics textbooks with CPM Educational Program. She partnered with SFUSD to create and implement an extensive, multi-faceted professional development program in Complex Instruction for secondary math teachers. The program is currently in its 10th year and going strong!
