NOTICE as of 3/6/20 11:13 PM - We apologize for this last-minute notice. Given the City of San Francisco's current recommendations to protect public health, we will be postponing the SFSU STEM Teacher Symposium. The City of San Francisco has advised "social distancing" as a means of reducing the occasions when large numbers of people come together and potentially are exposed to the virus that is circulating in our community. Dozens of events are now cancelled in our city and some sister events on campus will also cancel as of now. Further information on these guidelines can be found here: https://sfmayor.org/article/san-francisco-department-public-health-announces-aggressive-recommendations-reduce-spread. While we understand that both presenters and attendees have made efforts to spend this day together in teaching and learning, we do not feel it is wise to risk any unneeded exposure to the COVID-19 virus. Again, we apologize for the late notice. We thank you for your patience and look forward to re-scheduling the STEM Teacher Symposium in the near future. - STEM Symposium Leadership
The STEM Symposium is hosted and organized by the Center for Science and Mathematics Education (CSME) at San Francisco State University. This even will take place from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 7th. This is an event where attendees will make connections, discuss practices, foster new understandings, and learn and grow as professionals.
This year our goal is to explore equity and learning in science and math teaching in grades K-12. Participants in the STEM Symposium accomplish this by participating in workshops, panels, and discussion groups investigating some of the issues and topics about best practices and innovative techniques to further equitize science and mathematics teaching.
